BERKSHIRE PORK

byronprofile.jpg

BREED PROFILE:

Berkshire Pigs

Berkshire pigs are originally from England and one of the oldest swine breeds in the world. They naturally grow slowly, allowing high levels of marbling (intramuscular fat) to develop within the muscles producing a naturally juicy, tender, moist and flavourful meat.

Allowing the pigs to grow slowly is important to achieve the desired fat coverage and marbling within the meat. The Berkshire's diet is supplemented with sweet potato, molasses and nuts which help to enhance the sweet and natural flavours that Byron Bay Berkshire Pork is renowned for.

The eating quality and marbling characteristics displayed by Byron Bay Berkshire Pork is second to none:

Berkshires are to pork what Wagyu is to beef.

Byron Bay Berkshire Pork is a premium pork brand owned and distributed by Andrews Meat. Byron Bay Berkshires are raised in the pristine Northern Rivers region of New South Wales.
